Luke Basler successfully defended his thesis and completed his Master's degree this July. He is working on two publications from his time at UI, and will start a PhD at the University of Arizona this fall. Excellent work Luke!

Luke Basler was awarded an Evolving Earth Grant, an Honorable Mention for the NSF GRFP, and a GSA Student Research Grant. Haley Thoresen was recently awarded a Society of Economic Geologists Foundation Research Grant and an AAPG Foundation Grant. Bruno Belotti was awarded an Alaska Geological Society Grant and an AGU GSSI Grant. Charis Peever received an Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship from the UI Undergraduate research office. Erin Young-Dahl completed and successfully defended her Master's Degree work this July! She's headed to an exciting job at the EPA, and hopes to publish her amazing dataset this year.
Natalya Usachenko graduated with her B.Sc. - she's a DOUBLE major in GEO and BIO! So proud of her amazing senior thesis work. Want to learn more - both will be presenting at the GSA Annual Mtg in Portland this Fall! Great news for the TBA team as Erin Young-Dahl and Haley Thoresen recently earned a number of honors!
Erin is the Earth & Spatial Science Department's nominee for the Diane Haynes Outstanding Graduate Student award and received an SEPM Grant this year. Haley is a recipient of the 2021 Gary Babcock Scholarship from the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists and received an SEPM Grant this year.
